Matt’s 10-year career in arts management has been distinguished by his distinct commitment to artistic excellence, educational value, and positive social change. He has developed a reputation as a visionary arts leader, engaged administrator, and innovative fundraiser.

Matt is the Chief Operating Officer for Diavolo, a renowned dance company that performs a distinct style of Architecture in Motion. Since 2011, he has served in various leadership positions with the company. During his tenure, the company has doubled its annual budget size, tripled its total net assets, and increased annual contributions by tenfold; successfully toured to dozens of cities on four continents; premiered major new works at venues such as the Hollywood Bowl, the Movimentos Festival, and Arts Centre Melbourne; and launched the Diavolo Institute, providing education and outreach programs to over 3,500 underserved Los Angeles youth annually.

Matt serves on the Board of Directors of the Hollywood Fringe Festival and the Board of Trustees at Dance/USA, where he is a member of the Executive Committee as well as the Chair of the Managers’ Council (mid-sized organizations).

Matt was hand picked to participate in the American Express Leadership Academy as well as the Wells Fargo New Executive Directors’ Institute. In 2012, Matt was honored with the Ralph M. Parsons Foundation Fellowship for Nonprofit Leadership.

An accomplished theater artist and producer, Matt founded needtheater in 2006 and served as Executive Artistic Director for five years. Matt also enjoyed a career as a successful actor. Matt is an alumnus of Claremont Graduate University (M.A, Arts Management) and Northwestern University (B.S, Theater). He lives in West Hollywood with his wife, Julia.
