An experienced arts management professional, Matt Wells joined Diavolo in 2009. Highlights of Matt’ tenure at Diavolo include doubling the company’s operating budget size; tripling the total net assets; and launching the Diavolo Institute, with expanded dance education and outreach programs that now serve over 3,500 underserved Los Angeles youth annually. In 2012, Matt was honored with a Ralph M. Parsons Foundation Fellowship for nonprofit leadership.
Prior to his work at Diavolo, Matt founded the Los Angeles theater company needtheater, where he held the title of Executive Artistic Director for five years. For Dance/USA, Matt serves as Managers’ Council Chair and a member of the Board of Trustees. He also serves on the Board of the Hollywood Fringe Festival. In his previous life as an actor, Matt worked with AR Gurney, Jim Simpson, and Elizabeth Swados. Matt is a graduate of the American Express Leadership Academy, Wells Fargo New Executive Directors’ Institute, Claremont Graduate University (M.A., Arts Management), and Northwestern University (B.S., Theater). He lives in West Hollywood with his fiancée, Julia.
